Identify computer\u2019s major components and study their functions. Topics will include: processor organisation; control logic design; memory systems; instruction set architecture, and architectural support for operating systems and programming languages. You should bring a <strong>pen\/pencil<\/strong> and <strong>ruler<\/strong> for circuit drawing by hand. All circuit diagrams must be drawn using the ruler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can bring one A4 or US Letter sized cheat sheet, it can only be one-sided for the midterm (double for final) and <strong>completely handwritten<\/strong>. Prints are not allowed. You should hand in the cheat sheet with your answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cheating-and-plagiarism-policy\">Minimum Grades to Pass Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must achieve 50% in Labs, 50% in the Final exam, and 50% in overall grade to pass the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cheating-and-plagiarism-policy\">Cheating and Plagiarism Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I expect all students to uphold the principle of academic honesty. Cheating and plagiarism (presenting another person\u2019s words or ideas as one\u2019s own) are not acceptable behaviour at anywhere. Depending on the severity of the offence such acts can result in a grade of zero on the test or assignment, a failing grade (F) in the course, or expulsion. In all cases, the circumstances and the penalty are recorded in the student\u2019s file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting from 2024, all submissions will be checked against previous submissions for duplication. If caught, you will be charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Policy for Late\/Re-submission<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are affected by personal issues such as sickness, injuries, the passing of a relative, or other traumatising experiences, you should <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">contact an advisor<\/span> and seek professional help, and I will try to accommodate as much as possible.
